Dogs are people too.
“The average dog is a nicer person than the average person.”
When it comes to RVing it is easy to get caught up in the new lifestyle you are adapting to. Between planning meals, activities, school for the kids, and planning your next stop it’s easy to forget about your dog’s needs. Remember you’re an RVing family and your pets are your family. Setting time aside for your pooch is also a very important part of your everyday life.
Daily walks, trips to the pet areas at RV parks to meet other dogs (you can meet people there too), throwing the ball, and just some good old snuggly petting time is very important to your dog.
Include your dog in the activities you plan for your family. Our dog, Piper, loves to go on hikes with us. When we do our morning run she is right there with us to pound out a quick 5-mile run. Car rides are a great way for your pup to get out and see the area and explore the area with their nose.
For us, hiking is one of our favorite activities to do as a family. Not only is it free activity to do it also give your time to step back away from the stress of daily life and just enjoy the company of your family. Hiking also allows your dog to jump on their doggy internet with their nose and smell a whole new world of things as they explore new areas.
We took Piper on a hike on Mount Lemmon in Tucson, Arizona and she had the time of her life climbing rocks, sniffing under every possible rock and bush she get her nose near and having fun playing with the kids. We are pretty sure she was actually smiling for this picture.
Piper’s favorite outing is heading to the beach. While we were in Panama City Beach we found Dog Beach. This is a 400 Foot wide section of the beach that is dedicated “dog friendly” where you can take your dog to splash in the water and dig in the sand.
The beach is located directly across the street from Pier Park. Beach access number 57 will take you directly to the beach. We have included a map to help you find the beach just incase you are ever visiting the area.
We love to pamper Piper. She always has toys, chews ticks, a soft clean doggy bed and a snuggly blanket she like to chew on before she falls asleep. We made sure she had all the comforts of home while we are traveling fulltime.
She loves her outside bed we bought her to help keep her clean and cozy while we may be outside in a not so clean site. It’s a nice way to keep the dirt off of her and out of the motorhome. It folds up small and fits in our storage nicely when we aren’t using it.
Dogs are pack animals your family is your dog’s pack. Their family, their life, their everything. Enjoy your journey with all of your family, no matter how many legs they may have.
How much does Piper like going on hikes?
I think her smile says it all.
